Looks like we’re in for another blindside as CBS is selling this episode on that premise. Personally, I wish they’d give us a little less information about what’s in store this week, but I understand they need to put butts in front of TVs. I just think they should use a different approach:

“This week, another big move shakes up the tribe…”

“This week, someone’s going to be surprised.”

“This week, (start awesome Queen bass line) another one bites the dust…”

But, chances are we’ll just have to wait and see how someone underestimates their tribe and feels a bit too comfortable with their standing.

But what I’m really excited to see is how this week’s Redemption Island challenge is going to go. This has got to be the highlight of the season so far, right? And perhaps I missed it, but did CBS plug that aspect of this episode? I didn’t see any commercials about it, and it’s not like I sit at home watching CBS all week. Three episodes down and it looks like we’re in for a big power shift. The promos for this week indicate that someone who thinks they’re in charge is getting blind-sided, so I’m going into this episode thinking Brad’s on the chopping block. Let’s see if CBS is pulling the old bait-and-switch or if they’re simply tipping their hand a bit much…

In the opening recap we’re reminded that Jeff really doesn’t like Colton very much, does he? He may actually hate him more than I do, which is saying a lot. I think I’ve spent more time in my columns harping on Colton more than anything else this season. And because of that, I think I need to make one thing clear: I’m not ragging on Colton because he’s gay. Believe me, I adore the gays. I simply dislike Colton because he’s so full of himself without justification. CBS promised us a shocker in the first 10 minutes and boy were they right. This kind of lead-in typically misdirects us into nothing, but read on and let me know if you agree with my assessment.

After recapping last episode, we head over to Galang to check in on Zen Beach . While most of the tribe is having a good time chatting about Tyson’s crotchcake buckle, Colton decides now is the best time to discuss strategy. Geez, let the tribe have their morning coffee, will ya, Cumbie? And they quickly tell him to shut it. Again, he’s lamenting that no one wants to play with him and discuss strategy, but what did he expect? Did he think that everyone’s just going to play “his game?”

“They’re scared of me…”

Uh, yeah, no. I don’t think anyone’s scared of Colton . Not here on this island in the Philippines or back in Alabama . Honestly, I think he’s delusional, but that’s my take. We all know I don’t like that kid…
