It’s the night before Thanksgiving and we’re given the gift of A REAL EPISODE rather than a clip show of unseen footage. While that used to piss me off as a fan, as a reviewer, I have to admit I could use an easy episode to prepare for the holiday. But this is why we watch Survivor; right, to see another piece of the puzzle put in place? And since I’m such a huge fan of reality competition shows, anything that gets us closer to a winner is a good thing. Wouldn’t you agree?

And with a title like “Gloves Come Off,” I’m looking forward to some serious s**t hitting the fan tonight. I don’t want to be disappointed. We’ve been set up for an all out assault on Ciera (based on the promos I saw) but I wonder if that’s just the standard CBS misdirect. It’s probably Katie, in another predictable episode, but when has that been the case this season?

Just like every season, the closer we get to Final Tribal, the higher the stakes. In past seasons, there always seemed to be some clear “favorites” to win it all. Last season it was Cochran (because no one thought Dawn or Sherri would/could win) and before that it was Denise vs. the non-threats of Lisa and Skupin. 3 seasons ago, it was Kim, who dominated against Sabrina and Chelsea. You can even go 2 more seasons and see that Sophie and Boston Rob were shoe-ins to win (both dominated in the final tribal voting).

So you have to go back 5 SEASONS to find a close vote at Tribal (Fabio vs. Chase & Sash (5-4-0 in the voting)). I’m mentioning this because at this point in the game, I’m seeing no one dominating. Yeah, you could say that Tyson and Gervase are the de facto leaders of the Kasama tribe, but does that mean they’re locked in for Final Tribal? Hell no. We are getting DEEP into the season as episode #9 rolls in. “My Brother’s Keeper” is the title, so I’m feeling that we’re going to be focusing on Aras and Vytas tonight. Plus, I saw a spot that shows Vytas standing up for his bro, so I think there’s going to be some s**t-talking around camp! And we’ve got 2 Tribal Councils to look forward to! See what happens when pu**ies like Colton quit the game? The others are left having to endure 2 Tribals in one episode. That’s not fair. You can thank the divine Ms. Cumbie for that…

After returning from Tribal, Vytas takes a moment to congratulate the players who orchestrated the blindside. “As a fan of the show” he can see why they did it, and can appreciate their successful move. However, he’s really pissed off and will do whatever he can to exact vengeance on them.
