Hello again… And welcome to This Week in Total Drama Island ! What did you expect with the Blood vs. Water theme? We’re finally going to see how this season’s biggest twist is going to play out; the twist being the swapping of a player for a SO in peril. They pitched it to us, hell, Jeff and CBS shoved it down our throats that this season would be the “family episode” every episode. And you know what…they were right.
The episode’s title is “Rule in Chaos,” so let’s see if that has something to do with Colton . They teased last week that “the old Colton is back” so I’m anxious to see if they’re playing with our minds.
After the recap, we see Marissa arriving at Redemption Island to meet Candice and Rupert. No seriously, she actually had to meet them for the first time!
“Tell us your name again…”
“I’m Marissa, I’m Gervase’s niece.” Nice to meet you, Gervase’s niece…
Let’s see how long she can hang with the big kids. Marissa gives them a recap of what’s been going on this season, since they’ve essentially been relegated to RI since Day 1.1. You recall that all Rupert and Candice saw (except for the lone night with their SO) is the beach where everyone comingled. And any bit of info from the “real world” of the tribes is information to help them. So when she tells them about Gervase’s hootin’ and hollerin’ after the Immunity Challenge, it seems like she wanted them to understand that she didn’t belong here (sympathy play?) and that she was totally blind-sided. However, Candice points out that maybe she’s there because of the comment she made to Brad after his faux pas on Day 1 (where he said he may not try to win a challenge if it’ll give Monica a tarp).
And now I finally realize why Candice was voted out of her tribe first…
Why couldn’t she just let Marissa feel bad for herself? Why does SHE have to take part in making them feel bad too…? You just wonder if some people are naturally conditioned to make others feel worse about themselves. When you think about it, she WAS voted out of her tribe before Colton , so there must be something to this theory…
It’s the morning of Day 4 at Galang and a feeling of Zen is setting in. The camp is a love fest, best exemplified by the massage train going on… Oddly, this makes me think of this more than a massage circle, but you got to do what you got to do to win a million bucks! Colton ’s having none of it, as he’d rather sit around and bitch about how awful everything is. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but when things are pleasant, the only ones who are unhappy are the ones who are more comfortable with chaos (there’s that word again!). So Monica tries to talk a little sense into him (why does she keep bothering?) and reminds him that “it’s 39 days, you got to have some patience.”
Excuse me, but why does someone who’s a returning player need that reminder? I can’t exactly figure out what her motivations are, unless she’s devising some master plan to take Colton to the end. And god forbid, if that happens, you will have a lot of pissed off Survivor fans watching (or not watching) the finale…
So Colton decides to raise a little Cain and mentions to Tina, Aras and Gervase that Laura was throwing Tina’s name under the bus. As surprised as Tina is to hear that, Aras steps up and pisses on Colton ’s fire. I think Colton ’s true colors are beginning to show, and his tribe mates are starting to read him like a book. You can just see that he’s too self-involved to join the Galang Unity Network…
“We are stupid…” is how Mr. Cumbie describes his tribe.
Over at Tadhana, the aftermath of Tribal involves the discussion of why Marissa was voted out – and who wrote down sad faces! Rachel expresses concern about being in the minority of girls in the male dominated tribe. She feels she’s more at risk than Tyson might be, and she’s probably right about that. So her plan is to play it cool with the guys and let the target fall elsewhere. She then shows signs of bonding and/or aligning with John, who’s all too eager, for some reason. However, Ciera is seeing the other side of it that Rachel isn’t bonding with the girls, who should be her closest allies. Ciera then devises a plan to alert the others that John and Rachel may be in an alliance, which might redirect any red flags off of her and onto John.
I’m with you, I don’t get the Rupert thing but it did make me sad that he was the first to go home. I can’t wait till Wednesday to see Tyson go Ape Sh*t on people!
