SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES – 12/19/12

December 17th, 2012 | 4 Comments | Posted in Survivor 25 - Philippines

Nobody cares about their time together, just the three of them. Skupin and Lisa want to believe that it’s anybody’s game, but that’s what losers say to make themselves feel better. That’s the word version of the Participation Ribbon. Don’t worry, Probst will pin one of those on your collars after he hands the $1 million check to Denise. That’s the way society is today, we celebrate our losers, too. Just like the Survivor Hall of Fame! Can you believe this actually exists? And that non-winners are voted into it? Please. The fact alone that a stupid reality television show has a Hall of Fame is enough stupidity, but the fact that people who have never won the show get voted in before people who have actually won? Ok, now that’s just plain stupid! I know I’m the biggest proponent for the fact that Survivor juries vote the stupidest out of any competition/sport in the history of mankind, but the fact of the matter is that these people still won the show, and these other folks didn’t. You can’t vote a loser a better winner than a winner. It just makes no sense. You made your own Hall of Fame irrelevant. Congratulations on that, Survivor. I have a Participation Ribbon I’d like to pin on your collar at the end of this blog.

At the Final Final Tribal Council, where everyone gets to berate the final 3 with no filter, Denise gives her final speech, and doesn’t apologize for the way she played the game, telling everyone that she adapted to her surroundings on three different tribes, survived every Tribal Council, and changed the game with her strategic play. Lisa talks about something, but nobody cares to listen except for RC who has this vagina-wide grin on her face for some reason. And, Skupin played his guts out and had his back against the wall the entire time.

First off, Denise should have just sat there and said nothing because she didn’t even need to explain how she deserves to win over these other two. I still can’t get over Lisa’s face when she was crying in the arms of her lover brother, Justice. And, Skupin’s shoulder STILL hasn’t healed after all this time! Someone give that man some damn ointment and keep him out of the sun for a few weeks. Good Lord, I don’t even think he’s going to be at the live finale. I’m half-expecting to see an “In Memory Of…” piece at the end of this episode with the way that man’s bumped his way through this season.

Each season I look forward to the grumpy, bitter jury members to hand the final 3 their @sses, and I have to say that this season did not disappoint! Artis couldn’t congratulate any of the three because, like all of us at home, he got sick and tired of hearing all their talk about loyalty and nobility, and yet they stabbed people in the back just like everyone else did to get to where they are. Malcolm tells Denise to, practically, go to hell and that if she doesn’t stop moving her ugly, curly sue looking head, he’s going to send her there personally. Kent calls Skuping the person “who asked what the hell just happened.” Abi made little sense. And, last but definitely not least, Penner calls Denise a b*tch, tells Skupin he’s full of sh*t, and calls Lisa out for her past celebrity life before he ends it with a “I’m done.”

Now, even though I thoroughly enjoyed his speech, I still don’t think it was his place to tell everyone about her past celebrity status! I could have lived with it if Skupin had told the jury about it, but if Lisa kept that secret all the way through the game, and none of the jury ever found out on their own, far be it for Penner to tell everyone now, at the final three Tribal Council. I know it probably had no effect on how the jury voted, but we’ll never know that now, will we? I just don’t think it was right for him to do that. But, I’m glad that he did, because it was great television to watch. I love Penner’s attitude and I hope to see him again sometime.

And, we skip on over to the Live finale, where I am always so grateful that they do the final vote tally first off, rather than make us sit and wait any longer.

Denise wins!!! She is the Sole Survivor for Season 25 of Survivor. Congratulations, Denise! If it wasn’t going to be Malcolm, I was hoping it would be Denise. I do think she played a good game, kept under the radar, but still always in the know and always on the top alliance. She did well enough to earn herself that million, even though I think it was Malcolm’s, rightfully.

As far as Lisa being named the Sprint Player of the Season, the voters for that can eat a rancid sausage. Wow. I didn’t see that one coming AT ALL! But, whatever, it is what it is and I won’t remember she won it come next Thursday, so what do I care?

Well, that’s it for another season of Survivor! It was a good season, I must say. This season restored my faith in the show after the last few had worn me down. I still grew tired of taking notes each week, but I had fun writing the blogs, so that’s all that matters in the end! If I could only maybe get one of my twitter followers to take my notes for me, I’d be set!

As for next season, they didn’t tell us when it would be premiering. I’d imagine it would keep the same schedule as last season, and start sometime in February. But, it could be March, who knows. I just know that they like to run it into the start of Big Brother, so that I get no break from taking notes each week! Just kidding. I’d look for commercials to start sometime in late January, giving us a start date. Or, hell, for all I know, I could google it right now (not going to, I need to go to sleep) and there is probably a tentative date somewhere out there. But, until that date comes about, I’m out of your lives! Unless you want me in it for some reason or another. If that’s the case, email me, facebook message me, or follow me on twitter so I can start boring more than just the 300+ followers I have now! Maybe once I get to 500, I’ll start posting more often, like every 10 minutes, letting you all know my every single boring move I make. Trust me, I’m boring.

But, enough funny for now. I gotta go to bed.

It’s been real,

  1. Your lengthy first paragraph rant does nothing positive or helpful. You should have stopped after sentence number one or two. I swore I wasn’t going to read your column ever again after the last time I read your disgusting filth, but since I was unable to watch, and I wanted to find out who each juror voted for, I succumbed. Never again – I read your entire first paragraph and that was enough for me. I understand your anger but this is not the place for it. Expressing your rage on a reality website to recap a reality show is inappropriate in so many ways. People come to Steve’s site for entertainment and information on specific reality shows. We do not need to know how you personally feel about something that’s been all over the media for 3 days. It sounds like you need someone to talk to – about a host of many issues that have made you an angry and bitter person.

  2. @lucky it seems like the truly bitter person is you. Scott can post whatever he wants on his blog. It’s easy enough to skip over whatever you want.

Everyone(decent) is upset by this tragedy, and it’s not completely off base for it to be posted about.

  3. Holy cr*p, Lucky, what’s up with you? Damn! PLEASE tell us that you’re not the next one to go on a shooting rampage, because you sound like just enough of an a$$hole to do it!

The Connecticut shooting touched the whole world. Had Scott not said anything about it, he’d have been taken to task for ignoring such a hideous event. So eff-you, “lucky”!

Scott, it breaks my heart to learn that you lost a child. I can’t think of anything more devastating, regardless of the circumstances (illness, accident, murder …).

How you, how friends of mine (3 of them) who have lost a child, how the families in Connecticut, how any parent manages to live with such a profound and incomprehensible loss is beyond me.

As for the Survivor finale … I am THRILLED that Denise won! I’ve rooted for her from Day 1 – not sure why, but I just liked her all the way through the season.

Malcolm blew it for himself, but is likely to show up on the next “fan favourites” or “all stars” season, so … second chance, buddy.

Skupin never had a chance … he was a “return” contestant and I never expected anyone to vote for him.

Lisa MAY have had just a smidge of a chance, but Penner blew it for her when her “outed” her as a former “child actor.” But kudos to Lisa for being so gracious in defeat.

Penner, you’re a douchebag. You “played” Lisa throughout your stay; you held her when she cried; you “counselled” her when she felt weak and incapable; you were well aware that she had voted to oust you in previous tribal councils, yet you still somehow felt that she “owed” you. I’m SO glad that even ABI (gag!) got further than you!

Scott, I’ve loved your recaps. They made this season of Survivor all the more enjoyable. I’m really looking forward to your future contributions to the Reality Steve site!

  4. Thanks for the kind words. First, I want to make it clear that I don’t believe lucky deserves a response from me. With that said, she has every right to voice her opinion, so we don’t need to jump down her throat for it. Just as I believe I have the right to say what I want to say in MY OWN blog and that the owner of this site allowed me to write, she has the exact same right to say what she wants about what I said. That’s the wonderful (and sometimes sad) thing about the world we live in – we’re all allowed our own feelings and to voice them whenever, and wherever we want. I appreciate all criticism I get in life, and learn from it. If people want to remain bitter towards me, so be it. My wife is bitter at me every single day, so someone posting something ill on my blog won’t affect me in the slightest! 🙂

So, I just want to tell everyone who has ever emailed me, messaged me on facebook, mentioned me on twitter, or posted a comment on this blog that I appreciate them and their candor. I am sure I will be back for the next season of Survivor, if Steve will have me, so I will see you all then!
