SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES – 11/28/12

And, I’d really like to know if Probst was truly ok with Abi playing that whole mind game charade at the Immunity challenge, saying there were two parts to the advantage scroll, and that she had the option of reading the second part to the group. If I was everyone else, I wouldn’t have bought that for one second, but still, not a terrible play on her part. Although, the whole talk about how she can’t use Jeff as a part of her scheme, and then going and using him as a part of his scheme (since he didn’t exactly call her out for lying), didn’t make much sense. What did she want to do, have Jeff verify that there was a second part of the scroll? I don’t get why she said she couldn’t use him as a part of her play, when in actuality she did? And, I’m a little ashamed that Probst didn’t take a dig at her, and call her out for her lies, but I guess he probably already assumed that nobody was buying what she was saying, so he might as well have left it alone. Or, maybe while she was looking down at the scroll, he was mouthing to everyone else, “The b*tch is lying, there was no second part.” But, apparently, she didn’t break any rules, so he let her get away with her little plan.

Apparently, sitting out of every other challenge so far this season did Abi pretty well, because she used that advantage to her advantage, and won the Immunity challenge, beating out Carter and Penner. Just like everyone else, I was shocked. Although, I do have to say that the final round seemed to be easier than the first two rounds. All they had to do was untie some garbage bag twistie-ties and slide down a wood pole? I would have liked to see them incorporate more ropes and tangled knots into the final round, seeing as how the first two rounds had everything to do with winding your bodies through ropes and whatnot. This just seemed like it was untie this tie, take two steps to the next tie, untie that, climb this one stair, untie that tie, climb back down that one stair, untie that tie, and then you’re done. But, she still won fair and square, so congratulations on that. I actually want to see her make it to the final 3, because she should if the rest of the people there are trying to win the game. What they’re doing now is actually making it easier for her to end up making it to the final 3 and then win, because she will be able to prove how she came back from sured death to making it to the final 3 by planning, winning, and aligning herself correctly. But, of course, she’s an idiot and wouldn’t be able to convey those thoughts at the final meeting with the jury, but still…some people could vote for her to win just based on the fact that she shouldn’t be there. You never know with Survivor. Although, I’m fairly certain she could win the rest of the Immunity challenges and she still wouldn’t win the $1 million.

Back at camp, Malcolm seems to be thinking just like how everyone should be thinking; that he’s actually happy that Abi won, because now they can vote out an actual threat in the game, being Penner. In case these idiots have forgotten, the way you end up winning the game is by getting rid of your biggest threats along the way. Yes, there is something to be said for playing a “noble” game, but on the Survivor crest, it says nothing about nobility. You play to outwit, outsmart, and outplay your competition, not shake hands, fall in love, and tug penises. There is nothing un-noble about voting out someone you actually like, but are afraid of losing to in the final three because they have a distinct advantage over you when it comes to the way they’ve played, and the way they can manipulate thoughts through speech. You get rid of those people as soon as you can, and keep the idiots. Although, I say this every year and never abide by it (in my blogs), but it always does matter most who you are playing with. It seems that this season, the players all want to play the noble game, so you probably want to stay as noble as you can and not vote off your allies before you vote off someone like Abi. They probably won’t vote for you if that’s the case.

“Lisa, once again, lost her mind.” Hahaha, too funny, Penner. Lisa was having a hard time with voting Penner out, so she felt the need to go tell him that he was in danger of going home. And, then she tells him to go work his magic. Yet, she’s still going to vote him out? I don’t get that woman. She’s probably right when she says that she’s not cut out for this game. If I were Penner, I wouldn’t trust the b*tch in apartment 23, either, because she continually writes his name down at Tribal, yet is supremely nice to him, telling him that she wants to be in an alliance with him and whatnot. I almost am hoping that, at the finale, she tells us that she was acting the entire time she was on the show, and that she just wanted to confuse everyone with her gameplay and then come on at the end with some brilliant game move, and then wow everyone with a sob story at the jury questioning enough to win her the $1 million before they can all get home and realize she’s a former TV star!!

Penner takes the “information” he just learned, and runs to Skupin with it, telling him that himself, Abi, and Carter are going to vote for Denise to go home, and that he is the swing vote. It’s going to be 3-3, and whoever he wants to vote out is the person who will be going home. I hate the whole idea of one person being called the “swing vote,” because there still are 3 other people voting for that same person. Why can’t Lisa be the swing vote? Or Denise? Or Malcolm? You can’t say with 100% assurance that they’re votes can’t be swayed, so why is it only going to fall on Skupin that one person, or the other, will go home? But, Skupin tells us that he thinks he can beat Penner in the final 3, and of course all 10+ million people watching should know that means Penner is going home. Not only because it was just suggestive editing, but because it was common sense, and nobody plays this game with common sense anymore. It should be apparent that everyone stands a better chance at beating the likes of Penner in the finale over the likes of Denise and Malcolm, but if Skupin and Lisa want to be stupid, let them be stupid. Ride the horse to the water and then end up getting bucked, what do I care?

At Tribal, Penner continues on with my same statements, telling Skupin and Lisa they have no chance at beating Denise or Malcolm in the finals, and that they have a better chance against him, but we all know it’s for naught. I don’t even get why they have Tribal council, because nobodies votes are ever swayed. I’d almost wish they’d have Tribal council, then take a 2 hour break, allow them to reconvene and talk more, so that they could tell their alliances that they heard some good points in Tribal, and maybe they should switch their votes. Wouldn’t that be more dramatic for TV? Survivor is all about the back-and-forth, so why not add another few minutes of back-and-forth possibilities?

But, that’s not going to happen anytime soon, as is neither is Penner winning Survior, because he gets voted out. I did enjoy him misspelling Denise’s name as a last jab thrown. I think there was more to Penner that we didn’t get to see, with the whole weird Abi vote a few weeks back, and now taking a shot at Denise here. I think he may not be the nice guy they’re showing him out to be, and that he’s got a little bit of @sshole in him that we don’t get to see, but I’m not going to hate on him for that. We all have a little @sshole in us. It is sad to see him go, because he was the person I started out the season thinking I’d be rooting for. I never didn’t want him to win, but I became indifferent along the way, somewhere. So, maybe it’s not so sad now that I think about it.

I was going to take a quick moment to blast the last company that I worked for, but I decided to erase my thoughts and just let it be. Just know that as long as you leave the regime in place, you will NEVER make it to #1. And, to all my ex-coworkers who by some chance are reading this blog, do yourself a favor and quit that place. The day I left that company was the greatest day of my life, and every day since then has been better than the last. I know that quitting a job is a scary thing to do, and that it leaves you in a terrible bind, but honestly, what good is it doing you staying at a place that continually reminds you that you are dog sh*t to them? Seriously, I would rather eat the 2-month old dog sh*t in my backyard than ever spend another day at that uninspiring, dump of a company. I just had to get that off my chest, sorry.

  1. Hi Scott, as always, great update. One thing that’s driven me crazy the entire time…Have you noticed how Penner’s voice sounds exactly like Alan Alda? I kept thinking it reminded me of someone and finally figured it out a few weeks ago. If you close your eyes and listen to him talk, you’d think you were watching a rerun of MASH. Also, Denise is starting to bug me though I’m not sure why. She seems a little arrogant. My guess is that Malcom will sell her out if it comes down to a final 3. I wonder if seeing her name written down last night will make her feel a bit vulnerable?

  2. I was soooooooo ticked to see Abi win immunity! Damn, that girl is totally, completely, utterly clueless!

And childish – sticking her tongue out at Denise at tribal council when Denise was called up to vote.

All the same, if someone is hell bent on winning, his or her guarantee/best strategy would be taking Abi to the final.

I agree, kinbville, Penner sounds exactly like “Hawkeye” / Alan Alda. I’ve thought that since day one.

To Scott: I’ve left a couple of jobs where I have had nothing but disdain for the employer & the way they treated their workers; but I’ve only ever “burned a bridge” once – when I learned that my boss lied to me. I left his employ and (successfully) sued him. As Nelson Mandela said: “Having resentment against someone is like drinking poison and thinking that it will kill your enemy.” As you said, “let it be” … and count your blessings. They did you a favour (<– Canadian spelling).

    Cheers!
