As they return to camp, there’s about 4 seconds of congratulations before Tony runs off to find the idol. He’s not interested in doing any chores, guys, he just needs some protection! He knows there’s a crazy large tree over by Treemail, and he’s convinced the idol would/should be hidden there. He sprints off like the Road Runner. Beep-beep!
While Tony’s on his egg hunt, Jefra and Trish are taking a dip in the water. At least she’s washed her neck off! Trish can see on Jefra’s face that she’s bothered. And since Jefra is not one for playing games anymore (uh, that’s THE POINT of the show!), she tells her that she’s over Tony’s lies and “fakeness” and wants him gone. Kass joins them so we know there’s going to be at least 4 people (once she tells Tony) that Jefra is flipping. Not sure that was the best move by Jefra, but she’s not really “playing” the game, she’s just a passenger on this bus ride…
Tony is evidently unsuccessful at the tree near Treemail so he’s resorted to checking every other significant tree between there and camp. He notices there’s one large one, with giant roots, that resembles a rocket ship. He proceeds to dig and scrape and claw around the base of all the roots until – voilà – he finds the “Idol With Special Powers.”
“This Hidden Immunity Idol will keep you safe from being voted out at Tribal Council. Unlike other Hidden Immunity Idols, this idol can be played AFTER the votes are read. This Immunity Idol only protects the person who finds it, you may not give this Immunity Idol to another tribe member.”
Tyler Perry, you son-of-a-bitch! Just when we thought we’d be done with Tony, you play us like that, homey!?
Tony returns from his Easter egg hunt and joins Trish, Jefra and Kass in the water. Soon after, Woo joins them. Trish calls out Tony in front of Jefra and says that no one trusts him. “Who’s ‘everyone?’” he questions. “Everyone,” she says. He’s either pretending to feel insulted at the accusation, or he really is, but you know there’s a chance this “construction worker” is playing it up. As everyone heads to shore, they agree they still need to target the Lambs. And since Tash has the Immunity necklace and Spencer “may” have found a hidden Immunity Idol, it looks like Jeremiah is going home.
When everyone’s returned to camp, Jefra pulls Jeremiah aside and reveals her “new” position to him (because THAT’S the dumbest thing to do) but he’ll accept that she’s going back on the deal they shook on. Turnabout is fair play, right? He’s essentially fine with her revelation, but I don’t think Jefra will be invited to any Thanksgiving dinners at the Wood house this year…
Jeremiah, Spencer and Tash head off for a late afternoon dip and it seems that Jeremiah has accepted his fate. Since there’s nothing he can do about Jefra at this point, he feels the need to reveal something big to his tribe mates.
“I’m really a fashion model.”
Oooooohhhhh! Scandalous!
Spencer pokes fun at the unimportance of that revelation and decides to let them in on HIS little secret…he found the idol. So the question is, who should they target? Tash is thinking Tony but Spencer says “Woo,” because he’s the bigger threat in challenges. Smart boy… Spencer knows this is pretty much the last opportunity he has to make a big move. He can keep his idol, he can play it for himself, or he could give it to Jeremiah, but if he uses it wrong, he could be kicking himself for the rest of his life… Seems like should be trying to determine who the Tigers are targeting rather than who they should target, but maybe that’s already been attempted.
At Tribal, Jeff asks Spencer if the game is “up for grabs” because of LJ’s blindside last time; he answers “Yes.” So then Jeff asks Jeremiah for his perspective, who spills that while on the reward, they got Jefra to agree to flip, but “she decided to go back the other way.” You’d think maybe that this would be a good opportunity to trash Jefra for considering flipping, but I guess that wasn’t important at this point. Jeff then calls out Jefra for being “impressionable,” which seems kind of sh*tty, but whatever, it’s his show…
Her defense is that she was still bitter at being blindsided by Tony at the LJ vote, which then compels Trish to speak up and announce that she and Kass were also unaware of the blindside on LJ. Jefra then says that she’d rather risk being blindside by her original tribe, than to sit at the Final Tribal with Tash or Spencer, who she knows she’d lose to. This elicits a response from Spencer, which Probst picks up on.
“Spencer, you’re disgusted.”
Spencer chastises Jefra for not knowing where she stood when they returned to camp after the blindside of LJ, and that Tony “swore on his wife and kid” about this and that, but went on to break those promises. Spencer’s obviously trying to plant a seed of doubt in the Tigers’ minds, but the biggest moment happens when Spencer says that “if Tony and any combination of you guys is in the end, my vote goes to Tony,” (“Mine too,” adds Tash, slyly) “because Tony has been steering this game and you all haven’t…”
This revelation hits Trish and Jefra the most, who may have just realized what they’re up against. And while Woo spins the notion that Tony can only get to the end with their help, Spencer discounts it by saying that Tony is the only one putting himself in a position to win. Trish offers that “they called out Tony” on the moves he’s made (does anyone even care about that?) so Tony promises that he’ll stop the crap he’s been pulling (um, yeah, I don’t believe that…).
Tony tells everyone there are times to make power moves, but now is not one of those times. The 5 need to stay solid and move forward. And if Jefra flipped over to the Lambs it would be a “reckless move.”
Jeff queries Woo that, “it’s 5 against 3, how do you decide who to target, Spencer or Jeremiah?” To which Woo replies that they’re thinking of the Hidden Immunity Idol, and who may play it.
Probst presses on with a question to Jeremiah, “if it’s you or Spencer, whaddya do to get it off you and onto Spencer?” Jeremiah says that while he loves Spencer, “he’s a big threat.” And Spencer’s retort is that if you look at the social game, Jeremiah is “one of the most likeable people I’ve ever met.” (Man, this is a long Tribal…!)
Finally, Jeff asks Tash how her side chooses someone to target, and she says that while they tried Tony last time, that didn’t work out, so they’ll just have to target someone else. Tony then interjects that “you can’t do Tony tonight, because I got my bag of tricks with me.” Which compels Spencer to say that he doesn’t see Tony playing anything from his “bag of tricks.” And with that very confusing series of questions and replies…it’s time to vote.
After the votes have been cast, Jeff asks if there’s any Hidden Immunity Idols to play, to which Spencer stands and comments to Woo that “he can steal as many clues as you want, but I’ve got the real thing.” And as Spencer heads over to Jeff, he notices Tony pull out what looks to be another idol. After Spencer hands his idol to Jeff to play for himself, Tony chimes in,
“Jeff, do you see the inexperience in the young lad? He was about to give his idol to Jeremy (Jeremiah), he thought I was going to use mine, this is a fake idol, by the way.” And Tony stashes it back in his bag. Not sure anyone believes that’s NOT a real idol, but we’ll have to wait and see what the others think about his idol next week, I guess…
Time to reveal the votes.
Three quick ones for Woo and then 5 straight for Jeremiah. So long, Fabio (the real one)…
And I’m just wondering why Spencer didn’t flaunt his idol earlier during Tribal, force the others to make a decision, and then give it to Jeremiah? Woo would have been gone and he’d have made a big play that could change the game. Instead, it’s down to 5 against 2 and Spencer doesn’t have his idol anymore… How’d that play out for you, kid?
We see that next week is all about Spencer making Tony even more paranoid, so I wonder how that’s going to come about. Or does he simply walk up to Tony and just start…talking…to him? Tony seems to be on a downward spiral. Let’s hope he can remember those Miranda Rights when he gets back to work…
Another big episode! The season is reaching a fever pitch. I can’t wait to see how it plays out next week. Once again, I look forward to your comments, emails, and Twitter support. I’ve added an AIM account, just in case anyone wants to chat me up there…
