SURVIVOR: BRAINS VS BRAWN VS BEAUTY – 4/9/14

April 10th, 2014 | 4 Comments | Posted in Survivor 28 - B vs B vs B

(Day 20) Let’s do an Immunity Challenge…! And once again, it’s a challenge we haven’t seen before. Castaways will have to stand on their tippy-toes on a piece of wood with a wooden block on their head. The wooden block is pressed against another cross beam above them. Once they fatigue and lower their stance, the block will fall. Another new challenge for which we can thank John Kirhoffer…

Initially, I’m thinking stronger players will do well, but who knows who’s got the strongest calves…? This challenge is on.

In order, the players drop out…

Kass
Jeremiah
Trish
Tony
Morgan
Woo
Jefra
LJ

It’s Tash against Spencer for immunity. Who would have thought that two BRAINS would have been the final two in this challenge! Good for them! After 90 minutes, Spencer is looking like a child who hasn’t taken his medication and could be on the verge of dropping out or being eligible for the Special Olympics (no offense, of course!). Tash is looking good. No expression, hasn’t moved, and with those…ahem, solid…thighs, she looks like she could go another 90 minutes. But then all of a sudden, she drops her post and Spencer wins! He’s won the gold medal!

And as Jeff puts the immunity necklace on Spencer, he lets us know that “someone’s going home tonight.” The camera cuts to both Kass and Tony. So let’s see if last week’s theory holds any water…

Solarrion, Day 22, as the “Tony 6” (we’ll call it that, for now) discusses who to vote out, two names are bandied: Tash or Morgan. While Tash is the bigger threat in challenges, Morgan is the least deserving for her total lassitude around camp. But since they don’t want the same crap to go down like last tribal, voting out Morgan is Plan A and Tash is Plan B (‘cause they need a code in case they have to scramble again…). The other 4 players (Jeremiah, Morgan, Spencer, Kass) are discussing who they should vote out and of course, Morgan wants Kass to go. Spencer is thinking with his head and not his heart, so he suggests Tony.

But it all comes down to whether someone (hello, Kass!) is willing to flip. Spencer knows that’s the only play they have so he heads down the beach to find her. Of course, he’s not going to hold ANYTHING said previously against her. She made her big play, and that’s all good with him. He’s just glad to hear that she’s still a “free agent,” as she puts it, as the other alliance still hasn’t welcomed her in. Spencer throws out that his side is voting for Tony, and hope that she’ll consider flipping at Tribal.

Since Kass is clever enough to know that Tony is capable of doing well in the game, she’ll think about what Spencer’s proposing. She tells us that as an attorney, she’s all about “Trial by Ambush” and in Survivor she loves the blindside, so she’s okay playing either way tonight. Let’s see what happens at Tribal…

Jeff brings everyone in and recaps what we already know from last tribal council: Kass made her play and the Tony 5 is now the Tony 6 (should we just call them “the Tigers?”). Jeff asks Kass how it was when she returned to camp last time and she says that she got some sh*t from some people, but it’s fine now. Spencer reveals that he was a bit harsh on Kass, which he’s sorry for, but he just got caught up in the moment. Jeff mentions that it must be nice for Spencer to have immunity right now, which he agrees with…BUT, he’d be willing to make a big move if it’ll help him get farther in the game (I presume he’s trying to drop a hint that he could the necklace away…or the hidden idol he found).

Jeff then asks Tony if that response gives him pause and Tony says that the Tigers are looking to get rid of a strong player. So Jeff hits Morgan with, “you’re obviously not a threat, so how do you feel?” Morgan then gives us the most revealing answer to any question ever asked at Tribal. In a nutshell, she says that she’s cute, she hasn’t worked that hard at camp, and back home, she gets what she wants because she’s cute. Okay…

So, as we delve into the two alliances and who’s positioned where, Jefra says that Kass isn’t on the bottom, “it’s a chain” and no one’s on the bottom. But then she says that moving forward, she doesn’t know where things are going to go, which appears to give Kass something to think about. Jeff even mentions that Kass is “unpredictable” so you can’t predict where she’s going to land. I think this might get interesting. It’s time to vote…

Votes are cast and “if anyone has the hidden immunity idol and wants to play it, now would be the time.”

And this being Spencer’s show, let’s see if he mans up….

And…no.

Jeff reads the votes: Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony.

Morgan, Morgan, Morgan, Morgan, Morgan… One vote left…

Coconuts… (Hold on I need to wipe a tear off my keyboard…)

And just like that, the weakest person in the tribe is voted out. I can’t say that’s the most strategic move ever made, but since I’ve been an advocate of taking out one person at a time, I’m okay with the move. Just makes it a little harder later when you need to go up against stronger people in challenges. We’ll see how next week plays out.

The tease for the next episode shows that Tony is looking to make a move against Woo, even though there seems to be no reason for that. Eventually, the Tigers will need to turn on themselves, but it doesn’t need to happen so soon. Maybe we’re being misdirected…

Morgan’s final words are more lashing out at Kass. Again, if a 40-something adult is remotely concerned what a 21-year-old says about her, than there’s something wrong. I just think Morgan needs to grow up and realize that she’ll never accomplish what Kass has in her career. That is, unless Morgan only wants to be a trophy wife to some rich man, and then hire an attorney like Kass to handle her eventual divorce…

That’s all I got this week! Thanks again for all your incredible support. Any help you can provide is appreciated. I look forward to all of your comments, emails, and Twitter support.

Until next week,
Fish

  1. Oh, Savage #245. When Probst grows up he wants to be like Savage. Total man crush there.

  2. Well, I was correct in guessing that Kass thought her old alliance would forgive and forget . . . . but she certainly blew that out of the water with her most recent vote. Now I am firmly on the side of all those saying that Kass is not playing with her head, but instead playing a very emotional game. She could have easily returned to her former Brains group and gotten rid of the other tribe who are much more physical threats.

Tash surprised me in the last competition. She might have more in her than I thought. Spencer was already a surprise. I still really like LJ and that will probably be his downfall.

    Thanks for the recap!

  3. Yeah, it was a shame when Savage left. I think there are some guys that I just wanna see do good every season: Savage, Ken Stafford, Mike Chiesl, Chase Rice, Marcus Lehman (no homo!), but those guys are typically feared and eliminated sooner than later. I just want a strong player, in a strong alliance, to wipe the floor with everyone else…

And I agree that Kass is on her way out. You can’t flip like that and stay out of harm’s way. We’ll see. Tash is playing a smart game. Good disposition, not too strong in challenges, staying aligned – and faithful – to her alliance. I hope it comes down to her, LJ and Jeremiah/Jefra…

    Thanks for writing!

Loved the observation about Spencer in the challenge with his mouth hanging open. He really did look a bit slow. I’ve got a new one for you, how about Jeremiah + Jeffra = Jefframiah?
