SURVIVOR: BRAINS VS BRAWN VS BEAUTY – 3/19/14

March 20th, 2014 | 4 Comments | Posted in Survivor 28 - B vs B vs B

We see a number of scenes where everyone is scrambling to get the numbers. I could provide every single conversation shown, but it doesn’t matter. The facts are:

Trish can’t be trusted
LJ is a threat
Tony wants to defend the Brawn 5
Cliff is not buying what Tony is selling

We already know where Jefra, Woo and Lindsey sit, so it all comes down to how Tony and Trish vote, and – IF – LJ plays his idol. He informs us that it all depends on what Tony and Trish say at Tribal, but he’s ready to play it, if necessary… And if it were me, I’d play that baby and live to stand another day… And surprisingly, NO ONE (other than LJ) is talking about a hidden immunity idol, so that’s interesting… And more surprisingly, not one conversation has been about voting Jefra out!

Ok, let’s revisit Fish’s rules (the Fish Rules???) for doing well on Survivor…

Step 1 – align yourself with someone early
Step 2 – pull in another player or two and pretend they’re part of your “inner circle”
Step 3 – (THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE!) Keep your tribe strong until a merge!
Step 4 – Pray to whatever it is you pray to that you don’t get f**ked over by Steps 1-3…

At Tribal, Jeff welcomes the newcomers and instructs them to grab torches. He asks them a few questions that essentially validates that the “Brawn 5” have the clear advantage in this new tribe. LJ and Jefra are at the bottom, and it makes sense to get rid of them and then move on 5 strong. LJ seems to be doing his best to deflect any notion that he may be holding an idol, so I’m hoping that means he’ll pull it out (insert your own joke here) and surprise the hell out of the Brawns (not known for their brains, mind you…). So, with that, it’s time to vote!

“If anyone has the Hidden Immunity Idol and wants to play it, now would be the time to do so…”

Ok, LJ, now’s the time to do so…

LJ…?

LJ!

WTF, LJ…!

And…with each turn of the card, I’m bidding adieu to LJ. But wait…it’s 3-3 with one vote left. Who can it be…?

Cliff. Ouch.

And, if you noticed, Tony is shaking his head like, “OMG, how did THAT happen…” But we know how it happened. YOU flipped on your tribe. And now the Brawn 5 is down to Brawn 2. And the Beauty 2 is now the (semi)Beauty 4: Jefra, LJ, Trish, Man-boobs…

And with that, Big Cliff is out. But at least he can go out with a smile as his final words revealed. However, having a net worth of $20 million (http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-athletes/nba/cliff-robinson-net-worth/) is reason enough to always have a smile on your face…

And as we tease next week, we can see the Trish-Lindsey feud is brewing. A word of advice to all you 20-somethings out there: If you’re going to pick a fight with someone, do it with someone closer to your age. You have NO IDEA what life will throw at you in your 30’s and 40’s, so you really should STFU and RESPECT YOUR ELDERS… Here endeth the lesson…

And with that, we close the book on another great episode of Survivor.

But more importantly, it’s time for my big announcement!

As fans of the show, we all have our favorite players. Some may like the heroes, some may like villains, some may just wanna see the cute girls in their underwear (wonder who that might be?) but at the end of the day, we all wanna know who are the best Survivor players? And sure, there have been other websites that have ranked the top 10 or 25 players, but no one has taken the time to rank every player who’s ever played. That’s right, what I’m revealing – starting next week – is the ranking of…

EVERY PLAYER THAT’S EVER PLAYED SURVIVOR.

As mentioned, I’ve gone back and reviewed EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. All 27 past seasons. Every day spent on the show, every Reward Challenge, Immunity Challenge, Idols found, Redemption Arena challenges, every Immunity necklace/idol given to someone else, every quitter, medical evac and every Final Tribal. This is the ultimate list of everyone who’s played the game. All 406 castaways (not including any current players, but they will be added after the season).

I’ve always been a stats guy. One thing I don’t like about a lot of reality shows nowadays is the judging aspect of shows. I don’t care what someone else thinks of your performance. I don’t care what America thinks of your performance. Give me cold hard facts. Numbers don’t lie…

I want this to become THE list that people reference when discussing Who’s The Greatest Player in the Game. Sure, Boston Rob played four seasons (and won one) but in his first season he was a non-factor. Russell played 3 seasons and found countless hidden idols, but he was voted out second the last time he played. Ozzy played three seasons but never won…

There are plenty of opinions on who is the greatest, but hopefully this list will dispel all of that. I’ve painstakingly reviewed every episode and have determined who sat out challenges, who won what, and who found what. This is truly the definitive list.

I will reveal a certain number each week, starting next week. Not sure how many, but based on how many weeks left in the current season, it’ll probably be about 50 names (with their point values) each week. Hopefully, by the time we get to the end of the season, we’ll be able to do something special with the Top Ten and reveal them in some special way. Not sure yet…

And what I’m really hoping is that former players will catch wind of this list, and Tweet, Favorite, or Comment on their standing. I know someone like Parvati would be interested to know if she finished higher than Malcolm or Russell, just like everyone wants to see how high Amanda, Colby and Richard Hatch finished.

All will be revealed starting next week…

Until then…

  1. Loved the play by play of your thoughts during the tribal council. I could not believe that LJ didn’t play his idol. There must have been more behind the scenes that we didn’t get to see that made him that confident . . . or he was just lucky! Because what we were shown did not have me convinced that Tony was going to swing and go with them.

And I really had to laugh at everyone trying to get Cliff off the pole. He almost looked a little bored with their efforts.

    Thanks for the great recap!

  2. Nice job. As always, we obviously aren’t seeing everything otherwise LJ would have played the idol. He had to know for sure he was safe.

Can’t wait to see your list. As a baseball junkie I’m definitely a stats girl so this should be good!

  3. Hey, Thanks for the “man boob” shout out! Enjoyed the recap as always. A few questions….Did you think it was dumb to get rid of Cliff? I don’t get why you vote out Cliff and keep Trish (both are from the same tribe)????? Also, did I hear right…did Spencer mention after the merge that Garrett had an idol? How did he know that? Can’t wait to see the list and where you place Russell. He’s my all time favorite…I don’t honestly get why so many viewers hate him. He’s the one that made the show fun again.

  4. (rsanon) Thanks for all your support! Yeah, it must be they’re holding back some footage (obviously) but it’s like they’re holding back some PRETTY IMPORTANT FOOTAGE. Ya know? If LJ was totally buying what Tony is selling, it would be nice to know that, but I understand they gotta weave a story…

(ericah) I’m getting “goosies” (sorry, JLo!) just thinking of the first reveal. Pretty cool we get to start with the “Worst Survivor Player of All Time.” Do you know who it might be?

And I’ve always been a stats guy — dating back to when I’d scour the NEWSPAPER daily for baseball game stats. The good old days…

(kinbville) My pleasure! (I couldn’t resist…) And yeah, it was dumb to get rid of him so early. As I said in my Fish Rules: Keep your tribe strong! If they had no consideration of hidden immunity idols – which it appears they did – it makes more sense to get rid of Jefra and keep the tribe strong. Everyone is so juiced to make a big play and get rid of a big threat, but is THE FORMER NBA PLAYER really a threat to win it all? I think not… Keep the tribe strong, avoid tribal council, possibly DEVELOP A SOLID TOP 4 OR 5 ALLIANCE and get to the merge and dominate. Seems crazy that no one ever grasps that concept…

And yeah, I seem to recall hearing Spencer say that, but it didn’t occur to me how he knew. I’ll try to do some digging on that…

I can tell you that Russell did pretty well in The List, but his early exit in Redemption Island hurt him. I’ve always hated him just because he seemed very misogynistic and a bully. 2 qualities I HATE in people. True, he made for good TV, but I’ve always been a bigger fan of guys like Ozzy (great in challenges and a lover of nature) than guys like Russell who just thought they were great players. I’ve always appreciated the “survival” aspect of Survivor, so I gravitate towards the heroes/puzzlers/naturists kinda players… And the girls with boob jobs… 😉
