SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES – 10/31/12

November 1st, 2012 | 7 Comments | Posted in Survivor 25 - Philippines

Something I’ve always wondered – how do they get the conversations when the people are in the water? They can’t be wearing microphones. I can understand when the people are standing in six-inch deep water and the cameraman can just stand next to them, but like with Penner and Lisa, those two were swimming out in the water, so they obviously can’t have microphones on during that time? And, even if the camera is right next to them, it probably can’t pick up what they are saying as clearly as they make it seem they are picking up on. Hmm…just another thing to think about! Perhaps a reader with technical know-how can explain this to me.

Other than that, it’s become 100% obvious that Lisa wants to bone Penner. Goodness, she sounded quite smitten by the Pen Man…and by his Ballpoint Pen!

Penner is not only trying to work his magic on Lisa, but takes a swing at Skupin, as well. It’s ok for Penner to swing both ways. He talks with Skupin about jumping alliances and brings up the whole returning player aspect for a reason to come align with him and the Kalabaw tribe. Skupin takes this information over to RC, and they talk about how they know they can’t trust their own alliance to keep them past the final 7. They know once it gets down to 7, they’re the two on the bottom, and will be first to go, if not even before then. So, perhaps it will be smart for them to switch up alliances. If I were them, I’d probably switch. Although, it may not hurt to try and poach another member of the Tandang tribe to switch with them, making them a threesome inside of the old Kalabaw tribe, and not as susceptible to backstabbing once they’re over on their side. They may go ahead and assume that Malcolm is going to work with Denise, who is aligned with Kalabaw, so perhaps they could try and get Lisa to switch with them, therefore even making it a 4-on-4 type battle once they got rid of the three-headed sh*thole that is Artis, Abi, and Pete. And, let’s be clear, neither one of those three are winning this game.

Jeff Kent, who is still leery about keeping Penner around, approaches the Tandang tribe about getting out Penner. Normally, when someone from a tribe approaches the other tribe about voting out one of their own, that tribe is typically head over heels, because they don’t need to vote out one of their own. But, seeing how much of a moron Pete is, he’s willing to go ahead and overrule Jeff, and tell him that RC needs to go first. Now, I know that RC isn’t aligned with them, but neither is Penner. Penner is on Kalabaw, who is already weak numbers-wise, so why not just make them weaker? You can always just get RC another week, right? But, instead of just getting one person out, they decide to vote them both out and split the vote, hoping to flush out the idol. And, if the idol is played, RC would just go home. If it’s not played, Penner goes home after the revote. While they were talking, I was having a tough time following along, because they weren’t making much sense, but that may just be because I don’t know how to pay attention to things. Something about splitting votes, and three people voting for whoever else and I don’t know, I’m lost just thinking about what they were saying…

Nothing great really happened at the Immunity challenge. I’m still not keen on the whole two immunity necklaces being handed out, but it’s their show, they can do what they want. Denise wins it for the women (she’s obviously the ONLY capable female competitor out there, so she’s winning every competition if it’s always going to be split men and women). And, Carter wins for the men, but only after Jeff Kent tells him he’ll drop and Carter will just owe him one. Yes, Jeff, I’m sure Carter will live up to that. Geez, what is it with these people and giving up immunity. If you feel you can win it, just win it. It’s obvious that Carter wasn’t going to drop for you to win, Jeff, so why bother dropping for his skinny @ss to win? Just be men and prove who is the best that day by playing it out.

They reveal the new tribe name, and it’s actually quite funny. A nice play on words – DangRayne. Cute. I’m actually impressed, and wish they would have shown us who the person was that came up with it. They’ve showed us that in the past, but when we finally have a group who comes up with something clever, we don’t get to see it. I see how it is, CBS! I got you. If I had to guess who it was, maybe Denise. Or Jeff Kent. I don’t know if I really do see Denise having this type of sense of humor about it, but I think she has the cleverness to come up with something like that. But, using the word ‘dang’ just makes me think of Jeff Kent and all his southern glory. I guess we’ll never know, though…

Oh, and if Skupin had his way, Abi, Pete, and Artis would be shuffled off this island because of how rude they are! They haven’t really shown us too much of either of these three, outside of Abi’s fights with RC, but from the tidbits they have shown us, I can see what he means. Pete seems like he’s the uppity, I’m attractive and know I’m attractive type guy who all the other guys in his high school hated but still acted cool with because he had money and would always supply the parties with alcohol. Abi is just a b*tch. And, Artis is someone we haven’t gotten to see much of, but we have seen his attitude come out to play quite a bit whenever they do show him. He seems like he’s the type who sits in the background and talks a big game about how he knows what to do in every situation, but when it comes time to step up and situate a situation, he’s nowhere to be found. I see where Skupin is coming from, but being rude is all a part of playing the game of Survivor. It’s just how they are as people, not how they’re playing. Sometimes, people are @ssholes, you just have to overcome that and punch them in the face every once in a while…

  1. I could have this wrong, but I’m pretty sure RC voted for Pete, and Skupe voted for Penner. And i think Denise voted for Penner. I think.

  2. okay – found it on another site. I thought there were only 5 votes for Penner….

“Voting Recap: For Penner (voided by the Immunity Idol): Abi, Lisa, Malcolm, Denise, Skupin. For RC: Jeff, Carter, Pete, Artis. For Pete: RC and Penner. RC voted out 4-2 (five additional votes nullified).”

So, because Skupin voted for Penner, they didn’t have to do a re-vote. I would have thought Skupin and RC would have voted the same way, so I don’t know what happened there.

  3. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one confused by the votes and that whole discussion about them! So has Denise abandoned her alliance with Kalabaw? Or was that shown and I just missed it? It looks like Penner is going to make things worse for himself next week–in the previews he seemed convinced that his alliance had betrayed him and was lashing out at everyone, but actually only one person from his alliance voted for him.

Does anyone know what Jeff’s problem with Katie is? She wasn’t even around on this episode, and he was still talking about how bad she was at challenges. I don’t remember him ever being so fixated on one person before.

  4. I think I understand what happened with the votes if anyone is interested.

The 4 votes for RC, 4 votes for Penner plan was supposed to go like this:
RC votes: Jeff, Carter, Pete, Artis
Penner votes: Abi, Lisa, Malcolm, Denise

Everyone was in on this plan except Skupin, RC and Penner who thought that their alliance of 6 were all voting for Pete to go home. Skupin probably heard what was going on and changed his vote from Pete to Penner in a last minute attempt to save RC in case Penner didn’t play the idol.

  5. I hated the way this vote turned out. I actually really liked RC and I don’t understand why Jeff, Carter, Denise, Malcolm, Skupin, Penner, and RC didn’t just band together and get rid of Pete/Artis/Abi and whoever the hell else is on their side. I am sick of Abi.

Denise is the person I want to win this game. I am so impressed with her athletic ability and plus, she was at every tribal council and then finally got immunity for herself…I hope she can win!

  6. Completely agree with everything you said, JacklynT. At the beginning I thought I’d like Abi but I can’t stand her. Like Scott said, even when she looks back and sees she’s been the one completely in the wrong, she’ll still find a way to say it like it wasn’t her fault. I hope Probst calls her out on that at the reunion show.

Maybe she took issue with RC’s breasts, since I imagine Abi’s badonkadonk is use to taking centre stage.

  7. I think I am one of those people who would have freaked out if Lisa had gone through my private items, that’s just not cool. Hey, who doesn’t want to bone Penner!?! He would have to keep his eyes open the whole time though because I subscribe to the PBEC (I think that’s what Scott named the Pretty Blue Eye Committee). Scott had a point about CBS not showing us who thought up the name Dangrayne, which I didn’t actually get until I read it here, because hell, we know Boston Rob name his tribe after one of Amber’s stuffed animals! Whatev. I hate when people don’t finish words. If we really want people to get mad and punch each other I think CBS should buy Oxygen and do a Bad Girls Club Survivor, there would be some beatdowns plus most of the Bad Girls could stand to lose some weight, just saying.
