SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES – 10/17/12

When Malcolm firsts gets to the camp, he’s worried that he’s the odd man out, but that worry is instantly buried when Pete slaps him high five and gives him his swag back!! RC now knows she’s screwed because she was bullied as a kid, and she sees similarities in how this game is playing out to how her childhood played out. Eh, I’m not so sure about that, because it is just a game, but I understand how the alliance on the bottom may look at it like they are being bullied out of the game. Either way it swings, she is screwed, but she’s not the first to go so she still has a shot in the dark to make it to the merge, as long as they keep on winning challenges. To solidify Malcolm’s newfound feeling of belonging, Pete tells him that he has an Idol, sharing with him an instrumental piece of knowledge that can gain him power in this game. He teams up with Pete, and agrees to go after Skupin, which Pete now feels is the right move since Malcolm is just as strong, if not stronger. I disagree and think that RC would be the best person to let go, because girls with boobs that stick out of their chest as far as hers do tend to be able to sway some decisions if they make it to the merge. I’d get rid of her first and worry about Skupin later. I think it might be best to continue winning competitions, and I think Skupin probably gives you a better chance at winning than RC does. Although, in Survivor, sometimes it does pay to lose.

Holy sh*t, Katie can actually talk! I don’t think we’ve heard her talk at all this season, outside of the first episode, so it’s good to get to actually see her pretty face for a minute or two. She shares her excitement that Denise drew the Kalabaw buff, because on the Kalabaw tribe, it’s guys vs. girls and she’s hoping to bring over another girl into their alliance, giving them the numbers and the power.

But, hold that thought, Katie (maybe think about the answer to your next pageant question). Dana is dying. She’s in pain enough to have Probst come give his medical opinion on the matter. Jesus, Jeff, they asked for medical, not for you to come tell her she was hiding under a blanket!! Anyway, the doctor’s highly educated opinion is that “her tummy is irritated.” Really? You don’t say. You needed to go through 27 years of schooling to figure that out? That was like the one time I went to the doctor because my wrists wouldn’t stop cracking and the doctor told me, “They’re doing that because you’re doing that.” I sh*t you not, those were his exact words. I paid $80 for that. And, I wasn’t “doing that.” My wrists seriously crack every time my hands move and it’s quite annoying. I figure maybe he could have suggested we take a look and make sure my bones are ok, or if my ligaments are torn or whatever, but no, they’re cracking because I’m cracking them. Thanks, doc.

Anyway, Dana leaves the game. She decides it’s too much for her and the irony of this being the season of second chances has finally been hit upon.

And, just as I expected, nobody truly cared that she was sick, they just were pleased/disappointed in how it affected their standing in the game. Just like Katie said – she’s screwed now because Dana left. That dropped the girls down to 3, again, and back to square one, except not really square one, because one of those girls JUST joined the tribe and is a loose cannon/wild card.

Over at the Immunity challenge, I love how Probst kept calling out Katie and ripping on Abi for sitting out every single challenge (well, they have been winning, so it’s obviously a smart decision to sit her tiny, or should I say huge, @ss). Although, I will say that it’s not all Katie’s fault that they were behind the whole time, and in the end ended up losing. They caught up to Tan Dong when they were untying the ropes, but fell behind again, and Katie had nothing to do with untying the ropes. Ok, well that’s not completely true, because she did have a part in untying the bottom section of ropes. So, hell, maybe it was her fault they lost. Who cares. It didn’t help matters that they lost by two seconds, either, because had she not fell so far behind earlier on, they may have actually won. So, yeah, let’s go ahead and call a square a square. She lost the challenge for them. But, in the bathing suit section, she scored a 9.26.

  1. Hi! Just wanted to drop in and tell you I love your recaps! I think your really funny and I look forward to reading your blogs each week. I will be checking out your website and I am sure I will love that just as much. Nothing wrong with a little raunchy humor, doesn’t make you a douche… did you ever hear back from that poster who called you that? Anyway – keep up the good work!

  2. Great recap – I laughed so hard when you mentioned Katie and the cookies!

OK, I’ll admit that I’m now actually interested in continuing to follow the show. I feel an affinity with Denise. She’s a strong competitor and keeps herself low-key – no drama, no tears, no stupid comments.

The good thing about having Malcolm and Denise each joining one of the remaining tribes is that we’ll finally start getting to know those tribe members better.

OK, OK, Scott. Stop begging! I’ll check out your tvonthedaily site!

Cheers to my fellow survivor fans!

  3. I can’t figure out how to e-mail you but please let me break this down for you, I used “douche” as a term of endearment. Me and all my friends use it, “You look great douche!” “Douche are those new shoes?” See? Okay, that’s not true I don’t really use the douche as a term of endearment and I used it in my comment with the intent to be funny. Funny fail; however, I do like you, but I don’t like tomatoes, and I find your writing witty and intelligent. I apologize for the unfunny.

  4. Great recap! I also laughed out loud at “COOKIES”!

I assume when most people leave the game they just watch their torch get snuffed and then walk out, but I wonder if any shake hands with Jeff, hug him (not awkwardly), etc..but it just ends up on the cutting room floor? What a weird exit for Dawson!

Regarding Katie’s dress…I read a few years ago that the contestants are required to wear attire from their “everyday lives”. I always wondered prior to knowing that why people would not wear layers or even long sleeves.

Your doctor story reminded me of a terrible joke that may not be a joke at all, but a true story of someone who visited your same doctor…

What did the doctor say when the patient said, “It hurts when I lift my arm”?

    -Don’t lift your arm

  5. Thank you brady6, I appreciate you reading and thinking I’m that funny! Best part about that is that I AM THAT F*CKING FUNNY!!

FanOfSteve, either you change your name to FanOfScott and start begging all of your friends to come visit my site on a daily basis, or I don’t think I can consider us friends anymore.

susieduck, I’m glad you at least reached out, even if it wasn’t through email. I make the same mistake you make ALL the time, thinking people who read my emails/blogs/texts are able to hear my sarcasm through that text! I get myself in trouble too often with people for that same reason, so I completely understand. I will take you calling me a douche as a badge of honor!!

As for you, beaner, I laughed just reading your name!!

  6. But … but … SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTT!!! I chose my username before you ever started blogging!

Now what am I gonna do?!

    *SOB!*

    [Did you enjoy the drama?]

  7. You are hilarious – crack me up!

I’m glad they didn’t vote out Denise – she deserves to stay around. I hope she can hang on for awhile.

Who the heck is Dawson? I don’t think I ever heard her name before – Katie either. We really needed this so we could learn something about the other tribes.
