I enjoyed Coach’s comment about how it’s a “one in a million chance to be on Survivor and a one in 10 million chance to make it to the family time…” (something like that). I would like to know how he came up with these odds, because I don’t think the odds jump that high from making it to episode 1 to episode 12!! I’m sure the odds only increase by the amount of people that need to be voted off before you get to that part of the season. I don’t think it’s 10 times as hard. Good thing Coach isn’t a math teacher. But, I’d hate to see him trying to keep score at his girls’ soccer games.
But, Coach does go on to tell Ozzy that he wants him in the Final 3 with him. He wants two warriors to make it to the end and he says he’s serious about it because he said “as a Christian.” Good thing we got that cleared up. That would make for the best ratings. I think CBS is worried a lot of people aren’t going to bother tuning into the finale if the Final 3 ended up being Sophie, Rick, and Albert. They almost NEED the Final 3 to be Coach, Ozzy, and Brandon. If it happens that way, I’ll be 100% convinced they rig the Survivor seasons the same way they do Big Brother.
Anyway, we get a glimpse of Brandon’s dad and realize all where his crazy comes from. You can tell he’s Russell’s brother. And, what was up with Brandon calling his dad “bro?” Uh, you don’t go from saying “Yes, sir” to him to then calling him “bro” when talking to him. Something doesn’t add up with that. But, everyone has different relationships with their parents and when you have the crazies, you probably do things like call your dad “bro.” And, you probably have a dad who tells Coach that he wants him to tell him what you want to tell your son to do before you leave the island. Yeah, I didn’t get that part all that much either. Coach took it as bullying him into taking Brandon to Final 3, but I think his dad is just English-language-defunct and couldn’t spit out what he really wanted to say. Basically, he just wanted Coach to tell him (Brandon’s dad) what to tell Brandon to do in order not to lose Coach’s trust. Oh, and he gave his son a “C” for how he’s played the game so far (how do you know?) and doesn’t know how he hasn’t been voted out yet. Way to be proud of your boy.
Over at the Immunity Challenge, we get a bit of a human puzzle challenge. Finally, they come up with something different to do. I’m not sure anyone had any strategy (well, maybe I should say “good” strategy) going into this challenge. I am not so sure why everyone just started walking towards each other. You give yourself more options on where to move if you stay away from others. You also have a better chance at trapping people if you make them come to you. But, this is the tribe that is loyal to each other and has to follow every move each other makes, so why wouldn’t they all just walk right into each other?!? Coach ends up winning after he makes a break from the pack and everyone else just kind of stumbles to their exit. Not like it matters who won Immunity, anyway, we know Edna wasn’t going to win, so it was a done deal from the start of the episode and a waste of 60 minutes of prime time television.
After Cochran made the comment last week about Probst not knowing any other colour than blue for a shirt – which I had never noticed before – I kept myself occupied during this episode with the only interesting aspect I could find – waiting to see what colour of shirt Probst wore each time we saw him. And wouldn’t you know it – blue every time! Every single time. This is now what my survivor 42 mins will occupy – watching for the Probst blue shirt. Thanks to Cochran for pointing out something interesting for me to do during these episodes!
On a Community note – how cool was the animie scene last week over foozball? They are so creative. I am looking forward to tonights show. I don’t even allow myself to watch any of the preview commercials, even for a second, as I don’t like the surprise ruined.
I watched for the blue shirt too! Now thats some funny stuff. I think Ozzy picked Brandon in hopes that Brandon would maybe want to pay back a favor or something. That guy is LOCO! When his dad and him were hugging did you see the way he was clinging to his shirt. I don’t know about you, but I don’t hug my dad like that. It is weird that Brandon’s wife didn’t come on the show, I can’t wait to see what she looks like!
Dammit, I forgot to mention how I was focused on whether or not Probst was always in blue! I had it written in my notes, but I really don’t read them too much when I’m writing anymore! My bad.
As for Community, I actually watched Dragonball Z with my younger nephew back in the day, so I did enjoy that part. I didn’t think it was all that funny, but I did enjoy it bringing back some memories. I thought it was a lackluster episode, overall, in the funny department. Hopefully, it’s a better one tonight!!
Scott, you’re hilarious! I, too, was keeping an eye on Probst shirt.
mtmom – I noticed that about Brandon hugging his dad too! And when they were taking pics with that camera, Brandon put both arms around his dad’s neck like he was a baby monkey or something. It was so weird! I had to rewind it and watch again.
Not to mention, the whole calling him “bro” thing. I’m willing to put money on it that he was just a buddy of his back from home. Who calls their dad “bro” like that? Plus, that guy did not look like he was old enough to have a 19 or 20 year old son, but we do live in the day and age where babies are having babies, so who knows…
Your Final 3 is Coach, Sophie and Albert 🙂
As much as I’d like to see your theory as the final 3, its already been leaked.
Rayva, what is your source? Ive seen several different “spoilers ” for F4, none that I feel are the least bit reliable ..
I’m totally bummed that I missed Jeff’s shirt color!! I must’ve been dozing…again.
There are so many different spoiler lists out there. Every single one that I’ve seen was proven wrong at some point during this season, so I don’t believe any of them actually have reliability behind them. We will just have to wait and see…
