SURVIVOR – 11/3/11

For someone who goes to Harvard Law, Cochran really is an idiot. He goes and talks to Sophie and gives her their entire plan laid out like clothes for the next morning and she gives him absolutely nothing in return. Yet, he wants to trust them and believe they’re going to “protect” him and all that crap. Can’t he see how loyal they are to each other and how that bond is, most likely, not going to be broken by some new person coming in and voting with them. I’m not saying him flipping is a dumb decision, I’m just saying why is he so adamant about giving them information and getting nothing from them in return? And, why go to Sophie and not Edna or Rick (one of the weaker players) and try and get information from them on who they are going to vote out? I’m just sick of Cochran and his weasel-like tendencies. He’s going down in “Survivor history” as the exact opposite of the way he wanted to. He’s nowhere near one of the greatest players. He’s not a “strategist” by any way, shape, or form.

Even Dawn straightened up and tried to tell him that now is not the right time. It’s just funny to me that out of 12 people in the game, only one of them is scared of going to “rocks.” If that is the way it is meant to be, I say let it be, but I understand how hard of a decision that would be to let happen. I know I wouldn’t want my place in the game coming down to luck of the draw. But, that’s because I have TERRIBLE luck in those situations.

Ok, now we get into the part that pissed me off like nothing before; Tribal. Ozzy, in particular.

First, why in the world would he tell them he has the Idol? I understand that ending the charade of their story was the right thing to do, but why bother telling them “we” have the Idol. I know he figured he was going to play it and it didn’t matter, but I just think he did it more to show off than anything. I just think he’s hit the status in the game where anything he does is going to bother me and rub me the wrong way. I still like him in competitions and whatnot, because I always enjoy watching good competitors compete, but everything other than that is just wrong from him.

And, what in the world made him think it was a good idea to use the Idol on Whitney?!? Why the f*ck would he think they would want Whitney out first? This tiny little girl who isn’t even a threat to ants that she steps on is who you believe they are trying to get out so they can take over the game?!? Does he not understand that whoever he gives that necklace to is SAFE? Even if the vote remains tied and they have to draw rocks, everyone that is immune (Ozzy, Dawn, the two people voted for & anyone playing the Idol) does NOT have to draw rocks. So again, I ask, why in the f*ck would he give the Idol to Whitney?!? There is no reason why they would vote Whitney out. None. Of course they are going to go for one of your strong players. And, had you been a halfway intelligent person, you would have guessed it would be either Keith or Jim, Keith being the more obvious choice. Therefore, you should have given the idol to Keith as a way to make sure he stays even if it does come down to drawing rocks. Isn’t he a part of your original three-way alliance? I just don’t get this move AT ALL. I think it was the stupidest thing he could have done in that situation, and I’m guessing it may have had something to do with the fact that Production got involved and perhaps put something in his ear about how they may be voting out Whitney. Absolutely nothing about that move makes any sense to me. I was thinking about making my entire blog about how dumb this move was and how much it pissed me off, but I decided I’d cut you all some slack from having to read a 3,000 word angry rant. Adiaas strikes again.

And, in typical moron fashion, Cochran turns around after the vote is revealed and tells Ozzy and Jim it was him who flipped and he’ll explain why! I know he assumed they’d think it was him, right away, who flipped, but you don’t turn around and admit it at Tribal and say “I’ll explain.” That’s such a b*tch move. Own what you did and go about your business. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Besides, they aren’t going to want to hear any of your bullsh*t, so just leave it be. Jesus, there are going to be A LOT of people in jail because this guy ends up as their lawyer. I feel sorry for Cochran & Associates and whoever chooses them as their law firm. And, Jim calling him a “Coward” wasn’t really appropriate, but neither was Brandon butting in saying “Don’t talk to him like that. That’s what you get. Blah blah blabbity blah.” It’s not “bullying” when someone on your “team” betrays the team and you say something to them about how their decision makes them an a-hole. I would have punched Brandon in the face, taken Cochran’s torch and broke it on my knee, got my torch, thrown it in the fire, and then walked off shaking Probst’s hand as I did.

That’s how I’d go down in Survivor History. F*ck these idiots idea of “history.”

Sorry for the anger/non-hilarity,

P.S. No questions thrown my way this week, so I have nothing to answer here. Feel free to go ahead and ask me questions, because I’m not afraid to answer them…

  1. What I don’t understand is why in the hell would Ozzy go to Redemption Island willingly anyway???? Nobody on that tribe wants Cochran to be there, and Christine would NEVER go back to the other tribe (I guess nobody has paid any attention at the RI challenges to the way Christine treats her Upolu). They should have sent Cochran to RI so that Christine could kick his butt in the challenge and send him home, then they would have been able to get Christine to replace Cochran in their alliance. Would have made for a much better/stronger team. I’ve always liked Ozzy on past seasons but he’s an idiot this season and everyone seems to just follow the fool. Love your comments! Great job!!

  2. I think he gave the II to Whitney because he thought the other team would assume he had given it to Keith since he would be the logical choice to vote out. It bothered me at first – I was thinking WTF? Whitney?” and I have spent way too much time thinking about it and that ‘s the best I can come up with. Also don’t understand at all why you would choose to be 7th on a new tribe instead of 6th on your original tribe. Coach’s team is tight. I have really wanted to like Cochran this season but just can’t. Love your blog! Look forward to reading every week.

  3. I think the reason they gave whitney the idol has to do with the fact that if they have to draw rocks, whoever is voted for is safe. So assuming upolu thought they were going into a deadlock, they would have voted for the weakest player to keep the strongest ones pulling for rocks to go home. But of course none of that mattered with cochran flipping. Love your column, keep up the good work!

  4. Agreed that Ozzy is crazy for his giving Whitney the idol – Although the only logical reason would be the idea the previous poster had but still….
Anyway on Cochran: Probably it does not make a difference in where he finishes unless he pulls the wrong rock if it got to that. My reasoning (and probably his) – once he made it to the merge the strategy is to vote off the strongest players first so whatever tribe he is with he will still be one of the last to go before the final 3. And being such a huge fan of the game:
    1. He is not going to go out by chance after surviving to the merge and
    2. If he can become one of the “famous” survivors by making a huge move he would love it especially as one of the least likely players to make a big move. Jeff Probst even tweeted last night it will be one of 5 biggest moves in survivor history (better get the book Scott) – can you think of anything Jeff could have said that could make him feel any better?
From here I bet Ozzy is out first time he does not get immunity and they will run through the Savii tribe so Cochran will probably survive longer then any one else on his former tribe and he will be happy with that result. Do I think Cochran makes the final 3 – not a chance in H-E-double hockey sticks but he gets at least as far and maybe farther and most likely survives past all those tribe members that were trying to vote him out. Time will tell…

  5. I agree that Cochran is kind of stupid but how stupid was it for his team to let him know he was not included in the alliance, they thought he was useless and should lose his man-card but still excepted him to follow their orders so they could get further in the game. The whole lot of them were stupid, not just Cochran. In fact Cochran looked looked like the smartest one there last night…well, except when he talked.

  6. I’ll say this as a way to blow these arguments out of the water. If they were assuming it would be a 6-6 tie then why would it have mattered who they would have voted for? In a tie vote, the two people voted for are up for vote the second time, so why wouldn’t the other team take a chance and vote out a stronger player in case one person decided to flip on the second vote? Make sense yet?

Next, if it ends up a tie and goes to rocks, the people who have Immunity are now safe, so if you’re expecting that to happen, why make Whitney safe and leave Keith and Jim up for elimination? How does it make any sense to try and save your weakest player and leave your stronger ones vulnerable? Makes sense still?

Third, if they’re thinking the other tribe is going after their weakest, why then would they vote for Rick? What does voting for Rick do? Why not Edna then? If you’re going for weakest, you vote out the weakest, right? Then, that way she is safe from the rock portion of Tribal and all their men/strong competitors are available to be “voted” out.

No way you look at it does this move make sense. The only thing you can chalk it up to is stupidity. I won’t even give the overthinking it a thought…
